Gettysburg Children’s Choir seeks to appoint an inspiring mentor to our talented singers in grades three through twelve to serve as its next Artistic Director. Founded in 1999, Gettysburg Children’s Choir and Chamber Chorale have been treasured contributors to the rich musical landscape of south-central Pennsylvania. Their artistry has recently been showcased state-wide through conference performances for both the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association and the American Choral Directors Association of Pennsylvania. The board seeks an engaging, caring, and dynamic conductor-teacher to continue the high level of excellence of these singers.

- To ensure that all choir members gain knowledge of music concepts and reading and understand healthy vocal technique
- To provide access to the choir for children from all cultural and economic backgrounds
- To serve as a model for diverse and quality choral literature and vocal training in the field of children's choral music
ARTISTIC DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION
Curriculum and Program
- Develop repertoire and cohesive concert programming of quality, diverse, and age-appropriate choral literature with a minimum of two concerts annually.
- Conduct weekly rehearsals.
- Direct the choir at concerts.
- Obtain necessary instrumental accompaniment with fee approval from the Executive Board.
- Resolve site issues as needed.
- Coordinate the writing and production of concert programs
- Plan and execute an optional summer educational program through Adams County Arts Council
- Direct and supervise contracted Accompanist
- Supervise student interns from Gettysburg College.
- Conduct evaluations of singers.
- Conduct new singer auditions.
- Work with the Executive Board on the development of the budget for music, educational supplies, concert and optional summer program expenses.
- Serve as an ambassador for the choir.
- Recruit new membership for the choir by coordinating with local school districts.
- Develop an ongoing relationship with arts peers in the community.
- Represent the choir at community functions with, or at the request of, the Executive Board.
- Perform at one community event or nursing home annually if possible.
- Participate in strategic planning as requested by the Executive Board.
